A Clay alternative
for owners, not operators.

Clay is a data enrichment and workflow tool where you build tables that pull in contact data. Its pricing page in October 2026 lists a $0 plan and paid plans measured in data credits and actions. People look for an alternative when they want customers rather than a system to build. A Clay table is something you design and keep running. Rocketship is one product that finds buyers by name, emails them from your own Gmail, follows up, answers replies, books the meeting and answers the phone. Plans start at $24.99 a month, and a phone line is $5 a month extra.

Disclosure: Rocketship publishes this page. Clay details come from clay.com/pricing as read in October 2026. The paid plan prices on their page did not agree with each other when we read it, so we do not quote them. Check their page for current numbers.

The cost math

The question to ask of any table-building tool is what you do with the table. A list of 500 enriched contacts is useful only after somebody sends the emails, follows up, reads the replies and books the calls. If that somebody is you, count the hours.

Here is the hour math. Say you work 500 people with four emails each. That is 2,000 emails. Writing, scheduling and tracking them by hand, even at one minute per email, is about 33 hours. Reading and answering the replies is on top of that. On Rocketship, the Frontier plan at $79 a month includes 200 leads, so 500 people is a bit under three months of allowance, or one top-up of 300 leads at $35 plus the plan. The AI workers do the sending, the follow-ups and the replies.

If you enjoy building the system, a workflow tool gives you control that a finished product does not. If you want customers without a new skill to learn, a finished product saves the learning curve. Neither answer is wrong. Be honest about which one you are.

Rocketship sends only from your own Gmail or Google Workspace, and it does not support Outlook or Microsoft 365. If your mail runs somewhere else, that matters. For a side-by-side, see Rocketship vs Clay.

What Clay is built for

Clay lets you assemble enrichment steps into tables you design, priced in data credits and actions, with a $0 plan to start. It suits people who want to build their own research and enrichment workflow and connect it to the tools they already use for sending.

When Rocketship is the right choice

  • You want the finished job, not a workflow to build and maintain.
  • You want the sending, follow-up, replies and booking in the same place as the list.
  • You want a published flat price per plan.
  • You want the phone answered.
  • You have a list already and want to import it free.
