Honest comparison · updated September 2026

HubSpot vs. Rocketship:
the CRM is free. Everything it needs to act isn't.

HubSpot's core CRM costs nothing, and that's exactly why the comparison starts there instead of ending there. Finding buyers, sequencing outreach, and letting an AI agent act on your behalf live behind Sales Hub or Marketing Hub, priced per seat and scaled again to how many contacts you hold — with a one-time onboarding fee at the tiers that unlock real automation. Breeze, HubSpot's AI agent layer, drafts follow-ups for a person to approve and works signals on contacts already inside or near your CRM. Rocketship starts from buyers you don't have yet: a plain-English description turns into outreach sent under your own name, and the same product opens the reply, answers it, books the resulting meeting, and picks up the phone — one flat price, $24.99 a month, no contact tier to climb, no onboarding fee to pay first.

The cost math

HubSpot's free CRM is real, and it's a fair place to start a comparison — but it can't sequence outreach or run an AI agent. Those live in Sales Hub, priced per seat and scaled again by how many contacts you hold: Professional runs $90 a seat a month on annual billing, plus a one-time $1,500 onboarding fee before you're live. A three-person team wanting sequencing and Breeze is roughly $270 a month in seats alone, before the onboarding fee, before Marketing Hub's own $800-a-month Professional tier if you also want campaigns and landing pages — a second Hub, priced separately, with its own onboarding fee.

And at the top of that ladder, the AI agent still isn't unsupervised. Breeze's Prospecting Agent can launch outreach on a buying signal, but the follow-up draft goes to a person to approve — the loop closes with a click, not on its own. It works signals on contacts HubSpot already has some line on, not a cold, plain-English search for buyers you haven't found yet. Push it harder and you meter into HubSpot Credits, a pay-as-you-go charge layered on top of the seat price. Nothing in the stack answers your phone.

Rocketship doesn't have a hub to buy for each capability. $24.99 a month is flat, covers every contact you reach regardless of list size, and needs no onboarding fee before it works: it decides who to email, sends the message, sits with the reply until it's answered, and carries the result to a booked meeting and an answered call.

Two free tiers, one real test

HubSpot's free CRM takes no card, so start there — and compare it honestly to Rocketship's free tier, which also takes no card. The real test comes at the paid tier: price out Sales Hub Professional for your team, onboarding fee included, and compare that number to $24.99. Then count what each one produced — contacts organized, or meetings booked.

When Rocketship is the right choice

  • — You don't have a list yet, and you don't want to spend on Sales Hub seats before you have contacts to sequence. Sophie finds the buyers first, from a description, not a database you fill yourself.
  • — You want a reply answered without a person clicking approve. Breeze drafts a follow-up for review; Sophie answers it and books the meeting, unsupervised.
  • — No HubSpot product — not Sales Hub, not Breeze, not the free CRM — answers an inbound call. Rocketship's receptionist takes it around the clock and has the meeting on the calendar before the conversation ends.
  • — You don't want your bill to grow because your contact list grew. HubSpot's paid tiers scale with list size on top of seats; Rocketship's price doesn't know how many contacts you have.
  • — You'd rather not license a Hub for sales, another Hub for marketing, and a separate tool for the page and the checkout in between. One subscription sends the email, holds the page, and takes the payment on it.

The comparison that settles it: a phone call.
