Honest comparison · updated August 2026
Base44 generates apps. So does Rocketship — and then it goes and gets the customers the app exists for. Sophie finds your buyers, emails them from your own Gmail, answers their replies unsupervised, and picks up your phone 24/7; Claire books the meetings; the app takes the payment through Stripe on your own domain. Base44 stops at generation, and since Wix acquired it, its roadmap answers to Wix. Both products are self-serve, so don't take our word for it: run both for a month and count customers.

The cost math
Price the whole job, not the builder. Base44's subscription buys you app generation, and generation is where its receipt ends. The customers are a separate shopping trip: an answering service, an outreach tool, a scheduler, a CRM, a payment integration you wire yourself — $150 to $400 a month of other people's subscriptions, with you as the integration layer. Rocketship's $24.99 plan is the builder and that entire shopping list: buyers found, emails sent from your own Gmail, replies answered unsupervised, meetings booked, the phone answered 24/7, Stripe wired in.
Then there is how the allowance burns. Message-credit pricing charges the third revision of a headline exactly as it charges generating the page. On Rocketship, small edits — colour, copy, spacing — are free up to a monthly allowance, and small edits are most of what anyone does after the first prompt.
The structural difference never shows up on an invoice. Base44 sold to Wix, which means its pricing, its packaging and its roadmap are now line items in a much larger company's strategy — decided in meetings you're not in, optimized for a P&L that isn't yours. And whatever those meetings decide, the output is the same thing it is today: an app. An app with no customers attached is not a business; it's a cost. Everything on a Rocketship plan exists to attach the customers.
Every number in our column is at deployrocketship.com/pricing. Run the math on what the app is for — if the answer is customers, one of these products stops exactly where the job starts.
Run both. Count customers.
Base44 is self-serve and so are we, so this test costs you nothing but a card: sign up for both today and build the same app twice. In thirty days one of them has an app; the other has an app, a pipeline, booked meetings and Stripe payouts — because only one of them ever emailed a buyer or answered the phone. Keep the one that produced a customer.
