Getting customers

Can AI find someone's email address?

Mostly no. A chat assistant like ChatGPT guesses from patterns, and a guess can be wrong or belong to someone else. Finding a real business email address needs a data source or a lookup tool behind the AI. In Rocketship, finding new people uses enrichment credits, and you can import your own contacts for free.

Why a chat assistant guesses

A language model learns patterns. It knows that many companies use first.last at their domain. So when you ask for the email address of a named person, it may produce a tidy first.last address that looks right.

It is a guess. The company may use a different format, the person may have left, or the address may belong to a stranger with the same name. Sending to a guess risks a bounce, or an email to the wrong person. Do not use a chat answer as a source.

How a real lookup works

Real lookup tools keep a data set and query it. They find a person at a company, return an address that has been seen or inferred, and sometimes check it. Quality varies by tool, by industry and by how senior the person is.

Free ways exist too: the company website, a contact page, the person's public profile or a conference speaker list. They are slow, but they give you the right person on purpose.

Check before you send

Whatever the source, do three quick checks. First, does the person still work there? Look at their public profile. Second, does the address look like how others at that company are written? Third, is it the right kind of address, a named person and not a general inbox?

Start with a small batch of ten. If several bounce, stop and look at the source before you send more.

What Rocketship does

You tell Rocketship who you sell to, and it finds people by name. Finding new people uses enrichment credits: Launch includes 100, Frontier 250 and Mission Control 6,500. A lead is used when Rocketship starts working a contact.

Importing your own contacts is free, and Rocketship reads Apollo and HubSpot exports directly. Send a small first batch and watch your bounces. Emails go from your own Gmail, with a gradual ramp to 60 cold emails a day on a new inbox.

Rocketship is one product that gets you customers, so the found people go straight into reaching, following up and booking. See how it works.
