Getting customers
Can ChatGPT find customers for me?
ChatGPT can help you decide who your customers are, draft a list of types of buyers and write the first message. It cannot, on its own, find named people with working email addresses, contact them, or follow up. For that you need ChatGPT connected to a tool that does the work, such as the Rocketship plugin.

What ChatGPT can do on its own
Ask ChatGPT to describe your ideal buyer and it will give you a sensible answer. It can list the kinds of businesses that buy what you sell, the job titles that sign off, the problems they talk about, and the words they use. That is useful thinking work, and it is free.
It can also write a first email, three subject lines, or a short follow-up. If you paste in your offer and a few notes about a prospect, the draft is usually decent after one or two edits.
It can explain how to run outreach, suggest an order of steps, and role-play an objection with you. Think of it as a colleague who is good with words.
Where it stops
A chat window has no list of real people. When ChatGPT gives you names and email addresses from memory, treat them as guesses. People change jobs, and addresses get made up to look plausible. Sending to them bounces, or reaches the wrong person.
It also cannot send. It has no access to your Gmail, so everything it writes has to be copied by you into an email, one at a time. It does not remember to follow up on Thursday. It does not see who replied.
Finding customers is not one step. It is a list of named people, a way to reach them, a follow-up schedule and a place to track the answers. A chat gives you the first draft of one of those.
A fair test
Try it. Ask ChatGPT for 25 owners of dental practices in a city you pick, with their email addresses. Then check five of them by hand. You will quickly see which parts are real and which are guessed. This takes ten minutes and tells you more than any article.
The same test works for any tool, including ours. Ask where the names come from, and check a few.
Connecting ChatGPT to a tool that does the work
Rocketship has a plugin for ChatGPT. You sign in to your own Rocketship account from inside ChatGPT, and ChatGPT then works inside that account. You can say who you sell to and preview matching buyers by name, add the ones you pick to a list, and have ChatGPT write an email sequence that is saved as a draft.
The sending is a separate step you confirm. Starting a campaign sends real emails from your own Gmail, inside your daily limits. Writing a sequence alone sends nothing. You can also ask ChatGPT who replied, what was sent and what is in your pipeline.
The plugin does not go past your plan or your send limits, and it cannot see your card or change your billing. The setup steps are on the ChatGPT page. If you use Claude instead, there is a connector too, on the Claude page.
What the plan covers
Rocketship is one product that gets you customers. It finds buyers by name, emails them from your own Gmail, follows up, answers replies, books the meeting, answers the phone and tracks the pipeline. ChatGPT is one way to ask it for things.
Launch is $24.99 a month with 50 leads a month (a dedicated phone line is an extra $5), and Frontier is $79 a month with 200. Both start with a 7-day free trial, card required. See pricing for the rest, or how it works.
Related questions
- Can ChatGPT give me a list of leads?
- It can describe types of buyers. Named people with correct emails need a data source, which a chat does not have by itself. Check any names it gives you before sending.
- Does the Rocketship plugin send emails without asking?
- No. Writing a sequence saves a draft. Starting a campaign is a separate step you confirm.
- Is ChatGPT enough to start outreach?
- It is enough to plan it and write the messages. You still need a way to find named people, send, follow up and track replies.
