Can ChatGPT send my cold emails?

Not by itself. ChatGPT can write your cold emails, but it cannot send them from your inbox or follow up. With the Rocketship plugin, ChatGPT can start a campaign in your Rocketship account, and the emails then go out from your own Gmail inside your daily limits.

Writing is not sending

Ask ChatGPT for a cold email and you get text in a chat box. To send it, you copy it into Gmail, add the address, and press send. Then do that again for the next person. For ten people that is fine. For three hundred it is a week of copying.

ChatGPT also cannot see your inbox. It does not know who replied, it cannot stop a follow-up when someone says yes, and it will not remember to write again on day four.

What sending actually needs

Sending cold email at any volume needs a few things working together. A mailbox to send from. A list of named people. A schedule, so follow-ups go out on their own. A rule that stops the sequence when someone replies, books or unsubscribes. And a daily limit, so a new inbox does not jump from nothing to hundreds a day.

A chat tool has none of these. A sending tool has all of them but leaves the writing to you. The useful setup joins the two.

How the Rocketship plugin sends

Connect Rocketship to ChatGPT and sign in to your own account. Ask for a three-email sequence for a list you built, and ChatGPT writes it and saves it as a draft. You read it. Nothing has gone out yet.

Starting the campaign is a separate step you confirm. From then on the emails go from your own Gmail or Google Workspace, not a shared pool. A new inbox ramps up gradually to 60 cold emails a day. One-click unsubscribe is on by default. Sequences stop when someone replies, books or unsubscribes. There is no open-tracking pixel by default.

You can pause the campaign from the chat as well. The plugin cannot go past your plan or your send limit, and every safety switch in Rocketship still applies.

Who answers the replies

This is the part people forget. A reply can arrive at 9 pm on a Saturday. In Rocketship the AI workers read replies, answer, and book the meeting on their own by default, and the owner can review anything. ChatGPT is where you ask and check. The account does the day-to-day work.

If you want to see what was sent, ask: What emails did I send in the last 7 days? You get the answer from your own account.

Is it a good idea?

Cold email to a small, well-chosen list, sent from your own address with an easy way to opt out, is ordinary business practice. Our page on whether cold email is legal covers the basics in plain words, and is general information, not legal advice.

Start small. Fifty well-chosen names beat five hundred random ones. The ChatGPT page has the setup steps, and pricing lists the plans. Launch is $24.99 a month with a 7-day free trial, card required.
