Can ChatGPT follow up with my leads?

ChatGPT can write good follow-up messages, but it will not send them on a schedule or notice when a lead replies. Following up needs a tool that remembers who to contact and when. In Rocketship, follow-ups go out from your own Gmail on their own and stop when the lead replies, books or unsubscribes.

The writing part is easy

Paste the first email and a note about the lead into ChatGPT and ask for a follow-up. You will get something polite and short. Ask for three versions, each with something new in it: a fact, a short example, a smaller ask. That is a good use of five minutes.

A weak follow-up says just checking in. A better one adds something. For a fictional roofer, Dana Whitfield of Whitfield Roofing, it might be: Since I wrote, we finished two storm repairs on your street. Happy to look at yours for free. ChatGPT is good at producing that kind of line when you give it the facts.

The remembering part is not

Follow-up is mostly a memory problem. Who did you write to on Monday? Who replied? Who is due a nudge today? Who said not now, and should come back in March?

ChatGPT does not hold that list between chats, and it cannot send anything when the day arrives. If you rely on yourself, follow-ups slip the week things get busy, which is exactly the week you needed them.

What a follow-up system does

It keeps the list of leads. It sends the second, third and fourth message on a schedule, usually a few days apart. It stops the moment the person replies, books or unsubscribes, so nobody gets a nudge after saying yes. And it shows you where each lead stands.

The wording matters less than doing it at all. Many deals are won on the third or fourth touch, because that is when the person finally has time to look.

How Rocketship does it

In Rocketship, a sequence is a set of emails that go from your own Gmail or Google Workspace. They stop when someone replies, books or unsubscribes. One-click unsubscribe is on by default. When a reply comes in, the AI workers answer and book on their own by default, and you can review anything.

With the Rocketship plugin, ChatGPT can write the sequence and save it as a draft for you to read, then start or pause the campaign when you confirm. You can ask it which leads replied and what is in the pipeline. See the ChatGPT page.

Old leads count too

You can import your own contacts for free. Rocketship reads Apollo and HubSpot exports directly, and a lead is used only when Rocketship starts working a contact. Plenty of the best prospects are people who once said maybe.
