Getting customers now

How do I hit my sales target this month?

Work backward from the target to the number of conversations you need, then focus on the deals already open before starting new ones. Count what is in the pipeline, close the likeliest ones first, and start enough new outreach now to cover the gap. Anything you start today may not close this month, so triage deals you can still win.

Start with the gap

Write three numbers: your target, what is already closed, and what is in the pipeline with a realistic chance. The gap between the first two is what you must find. The third tells you how much of it is already covered.

Be honest with the third number. A deal that has been silent for three weeks is not 50 percent likely. Mark it by what you know: signed, verbal yes, waiting on a decision, or silent.

The example is fictional. Quarry Staffing has a $40,000 monthly target. $12,000 is closed, $18,000 is in play, and two weeks remain.

Four moves, in order

Do these in the order shown, because each one is faster than the next.

  • Close what is closest: call every deal with a verbal yes or a sent quote. Remove the obstacle, whether it is a signature, a payment link or a question. Send the quote today if it has not gone out.
  • Wake the silent: reach out to every quiet deal with a new reason to talk, such as a deadline, a change in price or a question. Do not send "just checking in".
  • Reopen the lost: list deals lost in the last six months where the reason was timing or budget. Many are worth another call.
  • Start new: begin outreach to a fresh list now. It will not all close this month, but it covers next month and stops the same gap from opening again.

Speed matters in the last two weeks

Reply the same hour. Offer specific meeting times. Send quotes the same day as the meeting, with a clear next step and a payment option. Every day of delay is a day the buyer can talk to someone else or lose interest.

Make saying yes easy. A quote the buyer can accept and pay in one click closes faster than a PDF that has to be printed. Remove steps, not just discounts.

If a deal needs a discount to close, trade it for something: a longer term, a faster signature or a reference.

Protect next month

Hitting this month by neglecting prospecting just moves the problem. Keep 30 minutes a day for outreach even in the final week. Count new conversations started, not only revenue closed.

After the month ends, look at where the closed deals came from. If most came from past customers, ask for referrals earlier next time. If cold outreach produced them, increase its volume.

Where Rocketship helps

Rocketship keeps every deal in one pipeline, so the first step above is a screen and not a spreadsheet hunt. It sends quotes and takes payment, follows up on a schedule, answers replies and books the meeting. For new outreach it finds named buyers and emails them from your own Gmail.

The 7-day free trial on Launch and Frontier needs a card. Importing deals and contacts is free. See pricing and how to book more sales meetings.

Only for something in return, such as a longer term or an earlier start. Habitual end-of-month discounts teach buyers to wait.
How many deals should be in the pipeline?
Enough that your close rate times the pipeline covers the target. Compute it from your own history.
Is it too late to start outreach mid-month?
New outreach rarely closes inside two weeks, but it sets up next month. Start it anyway.
